A List

  1. I hope we're not jinxed because we've both worn our wedding bands at some point already.
  2. Today is my last day at work before we leave for one of the biggest trips of our lives.  I'll be gone for two full weeks, and they'll  be just fine without me.
  3. I can't believe it's* finally here.
  4. I'm tired of addressing envelopes.  I'm done addressing envelopes.  I'm done with envelopes.  And stamps.  And embossers.
  5. We leave for the airport at 4am on Monday.  I haven't even begun to pack.  Yes, there's a pile of stuff in our office, along with our suitcases, but none of that stuff is for me.
  6. I can't believe it's finally here.
  7. I don't think I'll sleep again until we leave.
  8. The Stallion is on some clandestine operation with our travel agent.  Who also happens to be the mother of a former boss of mine.  I wonder what those two are up to.
  9. Weddings bring out the ... uncommonly seen aspects of people.  I hate to sound trite and use 'true colors', but from what I can tell, it's a great test of family and friends.  I've been pleasantly surprised for the most part, lucky me.
  10. Stamps are stupid.
  11. I bought copious amounts of sunblock yesterday.
  12. I'm picking up my wedding dress tomorrow and I can. not. WAIT.
  13. I can't believe it's finally here.
  14. I'll be using my passport for the first time next week.
  15. I made Braised Beef Shortribs over Polenta with Gorgonzola and Arugula Salad with Pear, Pancetta and Ricotta Salata last night.  It was a bait and switch to get someone over here to help me deal with the stupid stamps and the stupid envelopes.  It worked!  And it was a heavenly dinner.
  16. I think The Stallion might break a company record today for productivity.  Or for this week.  Nothing like one of the busiest, most stressful weeks at work to conincide with the week leading up to your destination wedding.
  17. Today is The Stallion's last day at work, too.  He'll be gone for two whole weeks, and they'll all be just fine without him.
  18. I have only one wedding 'craft' left.  Programs.
  19. I've made a detailed wedding agenda for the entire week next week.  I'm going to be spending this weekend informing everyone of their duties.  Yes, they're unaware.  Yes, they'll pull through.
  20. I can't believe it's finally here.  I'm going to marry my best friend.  My undeniable soul mate.  The best man I've ever known.  Besides my father, of course.  My father's going to walk me down the aisle.  In the same seersucker suit he married my mother in 30 years ago.  The Stallion will be in a seersucker suit as well.  New family tradition?
  21. I hate lists.  But I love lists.  Lists allow me to sleep at night.  So long as I have my list at my bedside.
*For those of you unaware, and if you didn't figure it out throughout the course of this list, the 'it' I'm referring to is the upcoming wedding of The Stallion and me in Punta Cana.

  1. Love this list! I got married four weeks ago. We both wore our bands at least once before we got married, I don't think it's a big deal! :) Congratulations, enjoy every minute and I'll look forward to a pic or two! Great to "meet" you too!
